These signs are free standing having a support for the sign with foundations that are independent of other structures. The signs will be on highways (e.g. billboards) or otherwise have street frontage.
These signs present with excellent exposure to passing traffic, but require council approval and ongoing maintenance.
LED / Neon / Illuminated / 3D Lettering
LED (Light Emitting Diode) and Neon are examples of signs where the illumination is part of the sign itself.
These signs are generally applied where a visual presence is required during both the day and night. They are excellent for enhancing brand exposure.
Considerations that should be kept in mind are council requirements and the overall costs associated with ongoing operation and maintenance.
Directional / Way Finding Signage
Primarily informational, these signs are used to direct people. Examples include car parking, rest room facilities and office locations.
These signs are predominantly made for use outdoors, and may be free standing or applied to existing structures. They are usually to be found in car parks, shopping complexes, parks, train stations and other transport exchanges.
As they are frequently placed outdoors, the size, placement and construction may be subject to council regulation. Exposure to weather and ease of access by the public mean that maintenance will also be a significant consideration.
Large Format Prints
These signs are used in locations where:
- large image sizes are required
- large flat surfaces are available for mounting.
This signage offers an economical alternative to other signs with significantly quicker turnaround. As a result of their size, they provide good exposure.
Consideration needs to be given to council permits, and to the relatively shorter life span of these signs as compared to alternatives.
Point Of Purchase / Point Of Sale (POP/POS)
You will encounter these signs in retail stores at checkouts, aisles and store entry and exit points.
These signs are primarily informational, and are mainly used indoors.
These signs typically have a short life span, either because of the construction materials or because the information has a limited time span.
Retail / Corporate Signage
Displayed on the front of buildings, on vehicles, shopfront graphics and sporting grounds. These are often large signs mounted on a durable substrate and fixed to either special structures or existing structures.
These signs offer good exposure, and are frequently used to raise brand awareness.
As with other large signs council approval and maintenance need to be kept in mind.
